February 24th ~ What Have YOU Done to Get Debt FREE ?

One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well :)

It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.

The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.

* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.

My Progress:    Yesterday was rough.  I woke up feeling awful.  It almost felt like the flu even though I got the flu shot this year.  I made myself get up and get a shower.  I didn’t do a whole lot else except for taking the girls to a birthday party.  I had gifts in the gift closet to wrap and cards in my little card stash, so it was a NO spend day.  We ate all meals at home.  We ate leftovers from the party for lunch and dinner.  It was even better the second time around.  I requested the FREE sample of Peet’s coffee k-cups that I posted about.  I also entered some more MyCokeRewards points.  I earned 111 Swagbucks yesterday.  I didn’t do any surveys because I was in need of extra sleep.

Ro goes back to work today after being home for 3 or 4 weeks.  I’m gonna miss him :(

What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it :) You could make 2014 your year. Who will the February winner be ? We’ll see…

You could have flu even though you got shot. Also their is a cold this year that mimicked flu. My kids had both and one had flu shots.

Spent the weekend with a cold but my mom took my older 3 to Monster Jam for the twin’s 5th bday. It was nice to have a semi quiet home but I really missed them. Took hubby and the baby to dinner at Red Lobster, he’s been wanting to go there for months and it was much easier and cheaper just the 3 of us. Went to dinner last night for my lil sister’s 18th birthday….my grandmother treated us all to dinner but did let us put in $20 towards the tip. We had a gift card we got for Christmas we planned to us but she wouldn’t let us.

Prayers for a speedy recovery, Karen.
It was a no spend day around here except for kids tithe at church.
Ate beans and rice for dinner, salads for lunch.
Prepared the budget for Mar 1st, clipped coupons, planned meals.
Prayed for financial peace for our family and the ML2S readers.

    Hope you’re feeling better!
Ended up spending a little extra at the grocery store yesterday–I know better than to take a hungry husband, but he wanted to go. It’s okay though…doesn’t happen too often. Got the guest room mostly cleaned up/out for our guest and the bed set up. The kids are sharing a room, which is proving to be more challenging to me than I thought it would be. Checked the Target ad and am so grateful/happy that may things I’ve been waiting to buy for a while (or need to replace) are on sale this week. Continuing to clean out things we no longer need/want to make room for new bday toys and just clear out the clutter.
