One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: It was a nice quiet day for us yesterday. I had a great time being home with the twins. I got up at 7:30 so I could get a shower before they woke up, but that was still sleeping in for me so it was a little luxury. They had banana crumb muffins for breakfast with fresh fruit. Lunch was PB&J sandwiches (their favorite). For dinner we met my parents at Old Country Buffet because I had coupons that were expiring after last night. The coupons were for 2 FREE kid’s meals and $6.99 for each adult meal. My parents thanked me profusely for saving them money, but hey, it’s what I do ~ he he ~.
I took the girls to a park around the corner during the day. They had such a great time and it was fun spending quality time together. I also spent more time organizing and paying bills. I even went to the post office to mail the bills that get paid via snail mail. I paid both mortgages (BOO!), but God willing I will only have one mortgage to pay from here on out (YAY!). I can’t wait to start hitting this mortgage really hard. I found the other 2 pieces of mail that I was missing. One of the things I found was the transferable warranty for the new roof for the old house. I need that for settlement so I was happy to have it in my hot little hand. I think I may drop it off with my realtor so I don’t misplace it again. I swear I can never find anything I need when I need it.
I got the Disney nightgowns that were on a great sale last week in the mail today. The girls were thrilled. I also got a grow light that I bought on Amazon with Swagbucks money. One of the only things I miss about the old house is a huge bay window that I had in the kitchen. It was perfect for starting the seeds in spring. I am having trouble getting these seeds to sprout this year. There isn’t a sunny spot suitable for the seed starter trays I have and when I bring the trays outside and forget to bring them in right after the sun goes down, the dirt gets super cold. I hope the grow light helps. How long do you leave these things on? Anybody know??
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the April winner. Wow ! You could make 2012 your year !
