It’s Paid Off – A Kitchen Remodel !

Here’s an email that I got today from reader, Ann:

Hey Karen, I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that we’ve just paid off the last bit of our kitchen remodel ! I’m so psyched about it! My husband got a part time job and I earned some money selling stuff on Ebay. We haven’t gone out to eat for over a month. We finally sent in the final payment today. What a great way to start a new month. It felt so good to send the final payment. I never thought I’d be paying extra to debt this close to the holidays, but we are almost done shopping for a cash only Christmas thanks to a lot of the deals you ‘ve posted lately. Thanks to everyone here for the inspiration. I love reading everyone’s progress everyday !

Keep up the great work Ann ! On to the next debt… You can do it !

May 1st ~ What Have YOU Done to Get Debt FREE ?

One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $115,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well

It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.

The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.

My Progress: It was a no spend day for us yesterday. We had a good day together, but once again, it started too early. I was awakened at 5am by the girls screaming and crying. Why, you ask?? Apparently Olivia needed a tissue. You seriously would have thought that their beds were on fire. Not only that, but they did it twice. I guess Olivia developed a little sniffles during the night because she was fine when she went to bed.

Needless to say, I didn’t do any shopping. We did go on over to my sister’s house for dinner. I warned her about Olivia’s sniffles but she said to come over anyway. The kids had a great time playing together (they always do). While I was there, I helped my sis sign up for her FREE Cardstore card (still available for you guys too) and for a few free samples. I always try to help her snag a few freebies when I can.

I did earn 23 Swagbucks and I completed 2 online surveys. I was pretty tired from my early wake up service courtesy of the twins or I would have done more. I went to sleep early (for me). I’m hoping that they feel better today, but it’s too early to tell right now.

I got my FREE bottle of Bayer aspirin yesterday.I also got 6 coupons for FREE Voskos Greek Yogurt. I also got a free laundry detergent sample. Woo Hoo! I love freebies. I’m SO excited that it’s FINALLY May. We have 10 days until settlement for the old house. We will then be back to 1 mortgage and I can’t wait.

It’s Paid Off ~ Jule’s Story !

“I just paid off my son’s orthodontist bill, paid off several doctor bills, got current on my mortgage today! Next is paying off the dentist bill and last credit card. I am so excited and feel so much better about things today. The car and truck were both paid off end of 2011 so able to put that money that I was paying out to good use this year and freeing myself up from the burden I feel I have been under for so long! Great feeling!”

It’s Paid Off ~ Nicole has one less bill to pay!

I encourage each of you to email me when you pay a bill off. I would love to feature it on ML2S in the hopes that it will inspire other families. We are in it together and there really is strength in numbers.

Here is an email that I got from Nicole:

“My husband and I have Student Loans, Medical Bills, and a home mortgage. We are paying off the smallest balances first & applying that monthly payment amount to the next lowest bill. We were able to pay off one of our sons medical bills! So happy to finally be down by one & be able to double pay the next lowest one! Happy day, Happy Day!”

Congrats Nicole! It feels good doesn’t it ?

It’s Paid Off ! ~ A New MommyLuvs2Save Feature!

I promised you guys lots of “get debt free” content in 2011 so here is another new feature for ML2S. This section will function as a brag/inspiration spot. You will be able to let us know about a bill or item that you ‘ve been able to pay off. You can send me a picture of it and a short story of how you accomplished your goal. If you paid off a bill you can just send me the story to share with everyone.

To get us started I just happened to have paid off our LAST non-mortgage debt today. I paid off our new furniture. It is a leather sofa/loveseat set. It’s much prettier that it looks in the pictures and both sides of each piece have a power recliner on them. We decided to get this set because our old set was 14 years old and needed to be replaced. I love it that all 4 of us can sit on the sofa and be comfy under blankets watching movies. It’s been so fun. I think I will enjoy our next movie even better now that the furniture is officially ours.

How about you? Have you paid off a bill or item recently that you want to showcase on ML2S ? I would love to post it for everyone. We all need all of the motivation that we can get. Paying off debt is hard. We need as many people patting us on the back as possible.
