One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: It was a pretty easy going day around here yesterday. I enjoyed the giveaways and they end tonight so make sure to get your entries in if you haven’t already. I may have one more for you this morning, but we’ll see. Today’s my mom’s birthday. We are all going out to a local restaurant tonight to celebrate. My dad bought a HUGE Restaurant.com gift certificate by mistake and he wants to use it.
I didn’t spend too much money yesterday. I bought the PlumDistrict deal for Target/Restaurant.com gift certificates. I had enough credit on PD to make it free. I got some of the Christmas presents I’ve bought online with vouchers yesterday. I need to get busy wrapping. I hate leaving it until Christmas Eve and then being stressed. I really LOVE Christmas Eve. It feels so holy to me. I love the kid’s anticipation, the bright lights and the holy Christmas carols. I just love it all ! I want everything done by at least a few days before Christmas.
I cashed out a few more vouchers last night. I’m trying to get all of the gifts here in time. It can be quite time consuming to cash out the vouchers and order items so I only get one or two done per night, but I know time’s ‘a tickin’ and I have to get busy with it.
I have nothing new to report on the “cable front”. The cable company never came and the wire remained in a ball on his front lawn where Ro put it. Hopefully he got the message, but we’ll see. I made all meals at home, but I will admit that dinner was a little lame. We were planning to go over to my sister’s house for dinner and she really ran late. The girls were hungry so I made them each a PB&J sandwich, goldfish crackers, applesauce and milk. I’ll try not to feel guilty over it, but really they’re such little birds and sometimes barely eat when I make a gourmet meal. They ate every bit of their dinner tonight so as my hubby says “It is what it is”. I had what I lovingly call a “fake grilled cheese”. I toasted two slices of bread and put 2 pieces of cheese in between them. Quick and easy was apparently the theme for us yesterday.
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the December winner.
