One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: It was a fun day yesterday. My hubby goes back to work tomorrow so we wanted to spend the day out and about together. We did eat lunch out, but it was VERY reasonable. I bought a super luxurious blanket while we were out. I couldn’t resist. I did buy it an outlet so it was cheaper, but still. My mom had just bought one and we all fell in love with it. I should give one away on a giveaway. Trust me, you’d love me forever for it. I spent an hour snuggling with the twins under it so as far as I’m concerned it was worth every penny. I cooked breakfast and dinner at home. I cooked terriyaki chicken in the crock pot while we were gone and it was so nice to come home to a cooked meal. I just added brown rice and peppers.
I made Christmas cookies and brownies with the twins after dinner. It is so nice to cook/bake in this house because the kitchen is right next to the living room. In our old house the kitchen and dining room were the only rooms on the floor. You had to go up an entire flight of stairs to get to the living room. It is so nice watching the girls play while cooking. This house may save me money in the longrun because it makes me want to cook more (Am I rationalizing ? You can tell me he he!).
I went to CVS really fast to see if I could get 2 Zhu Zhu pets. My new CVS was sold out so I plan to look at other stores today. I still have $41 in ECB s from Black Friday that have to be used by 12/24 so I need to plan my strategy for using them this week. The mail was nice. We got a $10 gift card for Cheeseburger in Paradise. We also got our $25 Boston Market gift card from SaveMore. It took awhile to get here, but it did come. I was hoping to get my Barnes & Noble gift card would get here by the weekend because I planned to give it as a present, but it looks like it won’t based on how long the Boston Market took to get here. I did get two other gifts in the mail. We are still getting mail at the old house even though I filled out the change of address card.
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the December winner.
