One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: Uugghh, sorry this is so late this morning, but I woke up with a horrible cold so I am a little slow today. My day yesterday was a no spend day. It was my hubby’s last day home before going back to work today. He really only works for 3 days and then he’s off most of next week so it’s no big deal. We had a meeting to go to yesterday and we were asked to bring 2 dozen cookies. It was really cool because we were provided with a huge platter to load up everyone else’s cookies. It was a huge cookie exchange. I don’t think I’ll have to make any more cookies this week. It’s questionable though because in addition to sometimes being Oscar the grouch, my hubby is always a Cookie Monster. I may end up making a batch of sugar cookies so that the girls have the experience of it. I have the BEST sugar cookie recipe that I will share with you guys 🙂
We ate all meals at home. I made a huge macaroni and cheese casserole and a big salad. Everyone cleaned their plate and it was less expensive than having a “meat” meal. I’ve been doing a meatless meal 1-2 times per week. I got a check in the mail for $50 for a survey that I did awhile back so that’s going right in the emergency fund.
We may have a major budget buster coming up. I have noticed since we moved in that the water smells like bleach (chlorine I guess). I ended up having the water tested and the lab said that they couldn’t test it because there was “too much chlorine in the water”. I have been doing a little research online about this and apparently it’s dangerous to drink heavily chlorinated water, but it’s even more dangerous to inhale fumes of it in the shower ~ Well, that’s just GREAT !!! So in a few minutes I have to call about getting a whole house water filtration system and I have no idea how much that costs. Any ideas ??
I also checked another CVS yesterday and still no Zhu Zhu pets ~ darn. I have to get to yet another one today. I have like $41 ECBs to use up this week anyway so after calling the plumber I have to strategize he he!
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the December winner.
