One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: Well everyone is finally feeling better around here. Kayla and I were the only two to get the stomach bug. I can’t believe Olivia escaped it, but so far so good. Yesterday was the first day that I felt back to my normal self. I managed to get to Target and Walmart to partake of some of the after Christmas deals. Now that we have ample storage I was able to grab some discounted wrapping paper and decorations for next year. I also managed to find discounted holiday paper products at Target.
We did some grocery shopping using coupons and only spent $63 for the week since we had some leftover food from last week. We also stopped at BJs just for the lunchmeat. It’s so much cheaper there. I also earned 34 Swagbucks and turned in 6 ink cartridges to Office Max. I had earned a previous reward so I was able to snag 2 ink cartridges for just tax.
I sent off for a few more of the daily deal vouchers that I had purchased in the past few months. Some of them expire at the end of the year and I don’t want to leave it until the last minute. I also have to go through my coupons in the next day or two to make sure I use the good ones that expire before the end of the month. I made all of our meals yesterday and I plan to make some homemade banana bread today. The girls love it and I have some bananas that will be perfect for it.
The girls have been having fun playing with their gifts. It’s been a really fun time for us being together and enjoying each other’s company. I have a few vouchers for the “jumpy uppy place” that I may have to take them to this week. I love seeing them have fun. I feel so blessed that they are happy and healthy. I hope that each of you had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones. I hope that you are starting to think about your New Year’s resolutions. I have a list of ’em I will share later in the week.
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the December winner.
