One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : It was a pretty good day. I was happy that I was able to balance the budget for the week. Money is still tight, but at least everything is paid and there is enough for food etc… I went to CVS after dinner to use a few ECBs that expired last night. I told my husband that I had to run to CVS to use a $1.50 ECB before it expired and he looked at me like I was a little nutty for making the trip for $1.50. Well, first of all, we literally live within walking distance of the CVS and $1.50 worth of FREE stuff is $1.50 worth of FREE stuff right ?? I was able to pair it with a few others I had. I got the Campbell’s soup for $.49/can (after coupon) and the Colgate toothpaste for FREE after ECB and coupons. I got a few other things as well.
I made all meals at home. I had a green smoothie for breakfast, packed a lunch and made leftovers for dinner. Everyone was happy with the selection and satisfied. I got a nice sized box from a daily deal purchase on Plum District. It was to Zoolu and contained a few floor puzzzles for the girls and a ballerina puppet for them to share. The worked together to do the puzzles after dinner and kept saying “We’re doing teamwork”, which is a major accomplishment. Twins can be so fun (and they are 90% of the time), but whooo these little ladies can be so competitive. Everytime I tell Kayla I love her, Olivia cries and says “You don’t love me??” and vice versa. If I cut an apple into 6 pieces for Kayla and 7 pieces for Olivia, Kayla complains that I gave her sister more. At least they’ll be REALLY good at counting and comparisons when they get to kindergarten.
I still haven’t heard any feedback from our first showing of the old house the other day~ bummer. On an positive note, we have two more scheduled for today and one more lined up for Saturday. Oh, how I hope this isn’t a long drawn out process, but with the way the market is, I wouldn’t be surprised. At least it’s finally on the market and has a chance of selling right ???
I’m still working on getting your surprise on the site. Don’t think I’m forgetful, just incompetent ~ he he! Hopefully today 🙂
What did you do ? I hope you have a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the February winner. You could make 2012 your year !
