One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I had a nice day yesterday. It was a NO spend day = yay !! I spent the day with my mom, which helped for sure. We watched all of her shows and had lunch at her house. I spent some time looking online for something I can do PT from home to add a little income for our family. I found a few potential jobs. I’ll let you know if I settle on something. I ordered small birthday cakes for the girls. We’ll pick them up on Saturday morning. They are having a class party earlier in the day and a family party at dinnertime. They’ve never had a class party before, so I wanted to let them have that this year. I hope it’s fun for them. I got gift cards for the place on Groupon before Christmas. They were 1/2 off, so that should make for a great deal.
I did all of my Bing searches and met my first Swagbucks goal. I did a few surveys while watching my mom’s shows with her. I listed a few items for sale on the Facebook yard sale site. I haven’t done that in a few weeks. I like it because I clean out clutter while making a little cash. Hopefully I’ll sell a few things and use the money to put towards the weekend birthday fun. I’ll also do my part time job tomorrow and get paid for it. That will pay for their cake and beverages for the party.
What have YOU done to ditch debt ? Let’s make 2017 our year !!
