One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: Yesterday was a busy day around here. The girls had a 2 hour delay, so my parents had to come over to hang out with them and to get them on the bus. I had to run into the city to go to a doctor’s appointment with my hubby. Ro will have a heart procedure to hopefully correct an irregular heart rhythm. It’s a syndrome that he’s probably had all of his life, but never known about. They said it could be sort of controlled with medication, but that there would be side effects and that the medication wasn’t good long term. It’s a major worry, but they said it’s a very low risk procedure, but still ??!! Now I have to figure out how the girls will be looked after while we’re busy with that. Luckily I have a lot of family in the area, so I’m sure it will work out. I’m worried about him though. I kept making sure the doctors knew how tall he is (6ft.10). He looks smaller when he’s sitting down. He laughed at me.
Since we got out of there after 12:30 pm and we were relatively far from home we splurged and went out for lunch without a coupon or a gift card (gasp, the horror). Guess what ? It was fresh, healthy and good even though it was full price. The mail was boring, but there weren’t any bills which was good. I earned 146 Swagbucks, so I met the first goal for the day. I think the bonus SB’s will be credited today, so that should be fun. I haven’t hit that many before, so I’m excited to see how many I get.
The girls had their school’s roller skating party last night from 5-7pm. It was $5 per person and we invited their cousin. They all had a great time together, so it was money well spent. I made a quick dinner before we went. I organized my coupons for a few deals today. I also have a few Freecycle items to pick up today. I have to get my deals and errands done today and tomorrow, so we’ll be all set.
What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it You could make 2014 your year. Who will the February winner be ? We’ll see…
