One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: We had a lot of little things that we wanted to accomplish yesterday. We changed the filters in our RO water system. We also needed a new filter for the refrigerated water, so we went and got a new one of those. Ro had an issue with his computer. He went to the Apple store and they helped him sort it out for FREE, which was really nice. We also picked up a few prescriptions and for some reason the price was only 1/2 of what it normally is. I don’t know if the copays went down in the new year, but I’m not complaining. We got 2 free magazines in the mail and all meals were made at home.
Poor Ro had the first day of his green smoothie fast. The poor thing was craving food all day long. The worst part is that he has so much energy from the green smoothies that he had a hard time falling asleep. Hmmm, I’m not sure how long he’s gonna last, but I certainly applaud his effort. I tried to only make food for the kids that he doesn’t like. I’m trying to be as supportive as I can. Well, at least we didn’t eat out.
I had another decent day with Swagbucks. I earned 327 Swagbucks yesterday. I also did a few surveys for another company. I signed up for a mystery shop at a local gym. I’m trying to exercise more anyway, so I may as well get paid for it – ha ha. I got gas because it was the last day of my grocery store’s gas rewards this time around. I was able to get $1.oo off per gallon this time, which was nice. I also needed milk and had a coupon for a local convenience store that if I bought the milk there, I would get a free full size box of cereal. It was a full day of savings around here…
What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it You could make 2014 your year. Who will the January winner be ? We’ll see…
