Mommy Luvs 2 Save

Use Extreme Couponing To Save You Money and Get Your Family Out of Debt

January 24th ~ What Have YOU Done to Get Debt FREE ?

One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well :)

It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.

The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.

* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.

My Progress:    Yesterday was the first day that the girls went to school in the past week.  They had an extra day off for MLK day and then the snow hit…  I spent the day with my mom because my dad had to work.  Ro was off so he stayed home and got some things done and appointments scheduled.  It was a no spend day and all meals were made at home.  I made a pan of brownies to take to my sister’s house.  We went over there at 6 so the cousins could play.  We had a good time catching up over coffee.  I resisted eating the brownies, but it was SO hard.

I’ve decided that I’m too clumsy to drink out of a glass.  I think I’ve broken 3 glasses in the past 2 weeks.  It’s always when I’m washing them.  They get soapy and slip out of my hands.  I did it again yesterday and this one was a doozy because some of the glass bits got lodged in the garbage disposal, which locked up the mechanism and caused it to stop working.  Luckily for me my dad happened to stop by and was able to fix it within 90 seconds.  Thank God for my dad because that would have cost some money.

I earned 117 Swagbucks yesterday.  I also did a few surveys.  I signed up for a few House Parties and downloaded some free Kindle books.  I’m almost at the end of a great book, so I like to have some options for my next read.  I’m a picky reader, so it helps if I have at least 5 to choose from.  Today is Ro’s last day at home and our first day without someone to take care of (kids or my mom), so we’re hoping to have a little date day.  We may splurge on lunch.  I have a few gift cards from survey companies, but I’m going to let him pick and he usually picks a place I don’t have a gift card for.  Oh well, sometimes you just have to budget for a little fun 🙂

What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it :) You could make 2014 your year. Who will the January winner be ? We’ll see…

No spend day yesterday and all meals were made at home. I plan on doing some extra cooking this weekend since I hate rushing home from work trying to come up with something to eat. We had breakfast for dinner last night which was fun but now I don’t have anything for lunch today so I have to buy. I hate that. :(.

All meals were at home yesterday. On the earning front, I earned 130 SB and watched my neighbor’s little boy in the afternoon. My youngest had a girl scout event last night, but it was free to attend. The only money spent was on gas to drive her there and back (I helped out at the event so I did not have to drive home and back again). I called to get my mom’s internet bill lowered (she hates to do that and I do not mind). I got $20 taken off her monthly bill for the next 12 months. My girls and I still have head colds, so we have been laying low.

Did you earn the 500 from Bing in one day ? I was just on there and I don’t see where you can win more than a few points a day. Am I missing something ?

On average, you earn about 17 or 18 points each day. Only takes me a minute or two to do. Once you reach 525 points, you can “cash out” for a reward. After you have reached your first reward, the subsequent ones only takes 500 points. Easy $5 or so each month. Not a lot of $, but it all adds up.

No money spent. Ask meals at home. Little man is still sick so we have been home all week except for the doctors. Got two antennas yesterday from Amazon. We cut cable out last week. We got Netflix,

Drove up to see the 50ft waves everyone here is talking about. Amazing.
Got some deals at Safeway, but the bad part is I had to put in on cc. Got to get this figured out!!! Im going to put a $100 extra in an envelope so that those thin days before payday, I at least have something to buy groceries with. My stockpile is good but the fresh stuff we go thru so quick.
Good news is that I ve lost 6 lbs since New Years, all I did is no grains.
    Made all meals at home

We are waiting on baby girl to arrive- we actually ended up driving to birth mom’s town this week as the dr thought she’d go into labor on tuesday. The dr was wrong but we have induction scheduled for first thing Monday morning. So needless to say, it hasn’t been great on the budget as we have been off work Wed- Friday this week and have hotel costs since Tuesday. But we are here & won’t miss anything when birth mom goes into labor. THIS is definitely why I save, coupon & scrimp- so we had the money to be able to do this and not worry about the financial part. We have been doing good as only spending $ for lunch/dinner other than the hotel cost.

Yesterday was a no spend day for me. Have a week til payday and budget getting thin. Trying to plan meals so we have enough to get by on. Don’t want to use any cc to pay for anything.
