One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I took the girls to school because we were running late in the morning. Ro went back to work too, so it was my first day on my own in awhile. I got some cleaning done around the house, did my little bit of time on the elliptical (it’s been 3 weeks now, why isn’t this getting any easier ~ sheesh). I ran into the grocery store just to snag a few freebies (with coupons). I made all meals at home including The Potato Volcano for dinner, which everyone loved. There wasn’t a drop left and everyone was satisfied.
We got a few things in the mail including 2 free magazines, a check for $58 from a survey company and 2 coupons for free kid’s meals from Bob Evans. The twins will be 7 soon, so the birthday freebies are starting to roll in. I downloaded a few free Kindle books (I posted a few for you guys too). I cashed in a lottery ticket that we won $10 on. The weather here will be freezing here for the next few days (1 digit temps). I guess it’ll cost more to heat the house, but I’ll make use of our fireplace to help out.
What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it You could make 2014 your year. Who will the January winner be ? We’ll see…
All meals at home. Leftovers for dinner. Had my car washed to get the road salt off. Earned a bit on inbox dollars. Cold, windy, yucky day. Spring can’t get here fast enough.
Couldn’t agree more. Our high temp is supposed to be a whopping 1 degree today, with wind chills of -30.
Worked, went grocery shopping (saved $16 with coupons) and deposited $190 into our savings. Hubs bought 2 cords of wood. Usually we harvest our own off our property, but he has been working a lot more this winter. Getting our tractor out to our woods (heavier snow) has been another issue. Even with paying for some extra wood, it is still a lot cheaper than using our propane. Certainly has been a hard winter. Only earned 158 swagbucks, but was gone most of the day.
All meals were at home. I did not leave the house. The temp was -5 in the morning. I worked on some tax things during the day and did a 30 minute work-out in the evening. I earned 101 SB, but did not have time for surveys.
Took son to swim team practice(last week as its just too pricey)
Helped daughter fax all the financial stuff to her potential college.
Made dinner at home, I got Panda Express takeout for lunch..had a coupon, veggies (instead of rice) and 3 entrees..total $9.47 once at home I added our own rice and it fed 4 of us for lunch.
Planned meals for the week.
No mail, thank God. Had to get a few things from the gs. We are expecting a ft of snow today do had to stock up. Hubs alternator went out yesterday and in November i bounced the check for my sons
braces. Found all that out yesterday about an hr before i found out that the 2 days this week i was supposed to sub are cancelled. Prayers please. I need to get on the survey train to get some extra $
Sorry about your rough patch, Jennifer. As for surveys, I received an email from Viewpoints. Through Thursday (Jan 30) you can earn 100 points for writing reviews for baby formula, coffee makers, dishwashers, e-commerce websites, vacuum cleaners and washing machines. Reviews must be 700 characters to qualify. 100 points=$1 and can be redeemed in $5 increments for things like Amazon gift cards, etc. I have written a lot of reviews for them. Very easy way to make a little extra $ from home. Hope this will help.
All meals home. Cold weather cancelled hubs sidework.:( Oddly in the part of Ak my sis lives in it was 43! It was colder at my house in Tx.
Clipped coupons for few more sale items.
Well yesterday was a no spend day. I was going to take the easy way out and run to the store and buy some cookies to go in this weeks lunch but decided to made the instead and for it would have cost me to buy a bag of cookies I made two batches of cookie dough and put half in the freezer. I love now that I am thinking about the cost of things instead of just buying items.
All meals made at home and all lunches packed. Made 3 pans of flatbread and cookies after work. Thought that would last a few days but it was all gone after dinner and snack. My boys just can’t stop
eating! Forecast is calling for snow so will see if we get any. Ordered amazon card from swagbucks.
Yesterday went out to lunch with hubby–Arby’s. We used my visa from inbox dollars. Went to Kroger’s & got some killer deals. Spent $74 which was also on my inbox dollars card. It should be plenty for the next wk-2 wks. We all had leftovers for dinner.
