One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I started my day with my green smoothie and my 15 minutes on the elliptical machine. I know 15 minutes isn’t much time, but it’s a lot for me – ha ha. I started out only being able to do it for 5 minutes 3 weeks ago so at least I’m making progress. I also did 15 minutes on the treadmill, so 30 minutes cardio total. I made all meals at home. I actually had a meeting all morning long and then I ran over to have a tuna sandwich with my parents, so I could get a visit in.
I snagged the free labels that I posted about. I also got a BJ’s membership for $25 (I posted about it – scroll down). I got 2 coupons for free products in the mail. I also left comments about other products on their website in the hopes of getting coupons (hopefully coupons for free items). I’ll pass along info for any freebies that I am able to snag. I checked on my Ebay items and the bids are increasing. I have items ending tomorrow night, so hopefully the bids will increase between now and then. I earned 28 Swagbucks, which isn’t bad since I was out a lot.
What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it You could make 2014 your year. Who will the January winner be ? We’ll see…
No spend day. Other than checking on my girls (chickens) and bringing in firewood, I stayed inside all day. It was bitter cold outside! Wrote 7 reviews for ViewPoints. Those should credit within a few days. Had a $5 reward in my account. Didn’t realized it, but they award (what looks to be random) “favorite customer bonuses”. This month alone, I have earned $25 from this company. Earned 300+ swagbucks and requested a $25 paypal deposit.
Wow Yvonne you are on a roll making it all add up!!!
We had lunch out. All other meals home. Grabbed few more items on lqst day of grocery sale saved 54%. Found taco shells on sale $1.20, boxes had $1 peelie on them.
Lil guy back to school. He is not
Feverish, but coughing horribly! In all honestly he should be home. School does not agree. And they wonder why so many are absent.
One of my older boys is 22 today!
We got our snow. It sleeted about 2in first then snowed about 6in. Crazy. Fun, Fun. No money spent. Did a survey. All meals at home. Only bills got mail.
Only spent money at target yesterday for groceries. Earned swag. Stayed home after target run.
No school for kids yesterday because they thought we were going to have snow but it didn’t start snowing until after 5… Make up day is Saturday so kids not excited. All meals at hone. Only bills
in the mail. Got $250 gift card in email for best buy from when we changed cable companies. Plan on using that to help get a new printer or put toward a new computer.
I did not leave the house because we had bitter cold weather here. All meals were made and eaten at home (I make homemade chicken dumpling soup for dinner). Worked on some tax items and earned 111 SB. I did not check the mail because I did not want to go outside.
C and I drove to walmart and spent the last of our weekly budget $ on some splurges which we probably (meaning I) should have avoided but oh well its done now. DH wasn’t sure if he was going to go see a house today and so we were not going to drive down and he usually then eats dinner with his mom so we got a frozen pizza in case it was just us. We also got a package of pillsbury cookies I had a coupon for. It wasn’t a great way to spend the last of the $ but at least it was already covered. We did end up making dinner at home and the house got put off till tomorrow so I’m going to take spaghetti to his moms to make dinner there.
Sounds like you stayed within budget though, so I’m glad you had a little splurge. That’s what it’s all about !!
Received two free dishwasher tablets in the mail today. Yesterday kids were home with me. Out to lunch but inexpensive (Sams Club) and picked up some needed things.
