Mommy Luvs 2 Save

Use Extreme Couponing To Save You Money and Get Your Family Out of Debt

January 6th ~ What Have YOU Done to Get Debt FREE ?

One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well :)

It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.

The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.

* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.

My Progress:   We ran around and did some errands yesterday.  We got a few cases of dog bones at Sam’s Club and a few other things.  It is still SO cold here, so we didn’t do a whole lot besides staying warm and cozy.  We made all meals at home.  Ro actually made dinner and I went over to eat dinner with my parents.  We had a nice little visit.  The girls played outside in the snow and drank hot chocolate.

Our neighbor from across the street came over and helped Ro replace a broken handrail.  He also gave me some handy tips about how to save some money on our electric bill.  He also looked at both of our computers and helped me make them print coupons again.  I’ve been struggling with printing coupons lately and I am SO thankful for all of his help. I spent a good bit of time printing coupons (yay!) and organizing grocery store deals for today.  It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to run out and do some deals without my little sidekicks !  They are back to school today.  They are cute though.  I’m gonna miss em’  I’ll have to  fill my with deal shopping !!!

What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it :) You could make 2014 your year. Who will the January winner be ? We’ll see…

It’s back to work for me this morning after the wonderful holiday break. As crazy as it sounds, I’m looking forward to getting back to my routine. My husband and I cooked ahead a few meals yesterday for the week. We made lasagna rolls, chili and a wonderful chicken fried rice that we are addicted to from pinterest. We are going to be a chilly 32 tomorrow morning in Florida. Not looking forward to all the layers of clothes I will have to wear, lol!

dumplings. That should keep us fed and warm this cold week. I leave on a work trip early Thursday so meals and expenses will be free for a week. No other money spent. Added coke points.

It is already -32 here this morning (with the wind chill) and only going to get worse as the day goes on.
All meals were made and eaten at home yesterday. We had breakfast for lunch and homemade Spaghetti with meatballs for dinner. I ran out to grab 2 extra papers in the morning, so I spent the afternoon cutting and organizing the coupons. I also had to pick up 3 items at the grocery store. My youngest also lost her second tooth, which meant a visit from the “tooth fairy”. I also made a loaf of bread in the afternoon while watching football.

To my parents house we went for lunch. Came home and ate sandwiches for dinner. Earned a few swagbucks. Got things ready for the week. Me and hubs decided we need to tweak the budget. I figured that we would have to do this a few times before we got it right. The temps are supposed to do crazy lie tonight and my tight self is not looking forward to turning up my heat. Stay warm my loves.

I put together a beef stew in the crock pot before leaving for work today so we will be dinning in tonight which is good because if I don’t cook in the beginning of the week it is downhill rest of the week for meals. Also we will have left overs for lunch tomorrow. I plan on clipping and filing all coupons today so it will be no a no spend day for us.

Yesterday we were blasted with (according to reports) 16 inches of new snow. After shoveling a path to my chicken coop, I believe it! Supposed to get even more today. Needless to say, I didn’t drive anywhere. Earned some swag, reaching both goals.

Ran errands yesterday…grocery shopping and cvs deals. Earned my daily goal of Swagbucks and printed more coupons. Had leftovers for dinner and had plenty to share with my parents who stopped in at dinnertime. Kids are still getting over these colds but every day they get a little better. I’m praying this isn’t a sign of the whole year. Typically my kids are fairly healthy but one of them has gotten sick each time we’ve come home from visiting family in NY over the past year. Never all of them at the same time though! Trying through the sickness to get my house organized and cleaned.
