One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $205,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well !
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt.
I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: Well, I spent some money yeserday, but it was spent strategically (Does that make sense??). I did get Chipolte for lunch. I used a gift card that I earned on Discover Rewards. I went to Target with a handful of Target coupons. I spent $16, but got quite a few awesome things including FREE pens, nearly free fabric softener sheets, fruit snacks, cereal, chicken patties, eye makeup remover, Lunchables and a few other odds and ends. It was a great trip. Don’t you love it when a shopping trip comes together the way you want it to. I also bought the Entertainment book from the deal that I posted yesterday. It will be $.99 after cash back. I’m quite sure I’ll get much, much more than our money back.
I also ran into CVS to cash in a few more coupons and got FREE candy (for the girl’s lunches) and a few other deals. I made dinner and breakfast at home and packed lunch for Olivia. The girls both have the sniffles and since Ro was staying home Kayla wanted to stay home with him. Olivia opted to go to preschool. It was the first whole day they’ve ever spent apart and I was glad they did it. We’re always impressing upon them that although they’re twins they are different people and can choose different things. Also, we’ve been noticing that they’ve been bickering alot lately (they didn’t used to do this and I’m hoping it’s just a phase). We were thinking that a day apart might be good for them. They missed one another terribly, but I can’t say it was a “bicker free” evening.
It was an awesome mail day yesterday. I got my FREE Schick Hydro razor, a check for $19.25 from one of my survey companies and coupons for 4 ice cream cones from Chick fil a. I also got a call from a lady who wants to buy something that I have for sale on Craigslist. Hopefully, we can meet up sometime this weekend. Yesterday felt like a pretty productive day.
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the July winner. You could make 2012 your year !
