One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: We had a busy, but expensive day yesterday. Before leaving the beach Ro decided to take as swim with the girls in the hotel pool. The only problem was that he forgot to take his cell phone out of his pocket. His phone got soaked and fried. We immersed it in rice when we got home, but I don’t think we got to it in time. We’ll see later today if it works, but it doesn’t look likely. The only good thing is that we have insurance on the phone, so he will get a replacement mailed to him. He’s not happy because he had an iPhone 4 and they are sending a 5. He liked the phone he had and now his charger won’t work etc…
We had a bad weekend money wise and diet wise. We spent too much and we ate too much. We got a good deal on our hotel, but we ate out every meal and that adds up. We also splurged and got fudge and candy for my parents for watching Rudy for us. We went and picked him up after dinner. We filled up on gas because it was $.40/gallon cheaper where we were. We are all happy to be home. We all loved seeing the ocean, but it feels so good to be in your own bed, doesn’t it ? I didn’t sleep well the second night, so I was tired all day yesterday. We are back on track financially and weight wise. I’ll have to get some groceries in the next few days, but we should be okay for today. It’s Father’s Day, so I have to spoil Ro and make whatever meals he wants today. Hopefully he’ll want what we have already – ha ha. Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers out there. I sure love mine. I’ll be going over to see him sometime today.
I did the drugstore deals for all of us last night while watching Suze Orman. I am on vacation from Swagbucks. I didn’t even earn 1 SB. I did do my Bing searches 🙂
What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it You could make 2014 your year. Who will the June winner be ? We’ll see…
