One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I had a good day yesterday. I spent the day babysitting a friend’s baby. They live far away, so the baby didn’t know me very well. As a result she spent some time crying. I felt so bad. She did manage to have a little fun and to take a nap. My friend came to pick her up after about 7 hours and we got to catch up and chat for awhile. Needless to say I didn’t get too much done around the house. I also didn’t get any deal shopping done. Ro offered to take us all out for dinner, but I didn’t want to spend $35-$40 on dinner out when I had plenty of stuff to make. I ended up making breakfast for dinner because we all love that meal. I made pancakes from scratch, eggs/omelets and turkey sausage. All of the plates were clean by the end of the meal. I won a FREE $6 MasterCard from the M&M contest I posted. I converted it to a $6 Amazon GC.
It was SO hot here yesterday. I think it ended up being 96 degrees or so. I put our awning out and told the girls that if they really wanted to go out they had to stay under it. The mail included a few FREE magazines. We also got a free sample of protein bars and a free laundry detergent sample. I did earn 56 Swagbucks yesterday. I didn’t focus on it much, but I earned a little anyway. I also did a survey for Survey Savvy after the girls went to bed. I have $38 in my account. I plan to cash out when I get to $40. They are a nice group because you can cash out as little as $1. I like to wait awhile though because it takes a few weeks for their checks to come.
What did you do? Leave a comment We’d love to hear about it You could make 2014 your year. Who will the June winner be ? We’ll see…
Paid a few bills, which included my car payment…grrr. Makes me sick having this. Thinking about going back to work full time to help pay it off faster, but my hubby wants me to wait until the Fall. We shall see. We had a rainy day, so nothing accomplished outside. As a result, I did manage to earn over 100 swagbucks.
No spend day here. Trying for more of those! Exercised, brought my older son to and from the bus, hung out with my little guy. Earned about 55 swagbucks, but didn’t make goal. It was just too hard yesterday! Earned all my bing points, though. Worked on the menu plan/grocery list for a few weeks ahead. If I start early, I feel ready by the time the day comes to hit target! We are going camping in two weeks so I am working on a menu plan, etc. for that and it’s looking like we already have everything we need for food. That should help! 🙂
Gosh, the fridge was down to the condiments. Went to Costco, spent $224..that should get us thru the week.(all my big eaters are home)
Finally checked my emails and saw that I won a $25 gc from ML2S and a free Starbucks. Put $40 check in the bank I got from lawn mowing.
Nothing good in the mail. Did my Bing searches. Went to Rite Aid, spent $10, got 2 toothpaste and 4 body washes, received $8 in ups.
Went to my parents and had dinner there.
Sons birthday is tomorrow, turning 10! So bought small cake and some staples for the house. Unfortunately left out my lunch meat on the counter. Wasted money.
