One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : I had a much better day yesterday. I finally had a full night’s sleep. I don’t think I coughed once during the night. I just can’t function on less than 7 hours of sleep each night. I’m such a dork I was actually talking to my bed for getting in it last night (you know, saying things like “Look how nice you look- all fluffy and cozy. Why do you and I have to be apart so long during the day ? It’s not fair”). I think my hubby thought I had hopped aboard the crazy train. Whatever ~ I slept like a baby so I’m happy. Maybe my bed and I just needed to communicate better LOL.
I did splurge on a Sicillian pizza for dinner. A friend of mine came over with her 2 kids and her daughter had fun playing with the girls. I have found that I can make one Sicillian pizza feed all of us. It costs $2 more, but it saves me from having to buy an extra pizza and it’s sliced in 16 pieces.
We wanted to get some fresh air after our company left (around 9pm) so we ran out and I zipped into Rite Aid to snag 20 more packs of FREE UP2U gum in a variety of flavors. My hubby was thrilled. I also ran into the grocery store to snag a few items. They have a deal on Eggo waffles. You can get them for just $.80/box when you buy 5. I can do that.
Wish me luck. The home inspections are set for 12:30 today. My hubby and our handy neighbor are going over to handle one minor issue at 9 this morning. I don’t think I’ll hear anything until Monday, but I am hoping to get over this hurdle as easily as is possible so we can relax a little until the closing on May 11th.
I got an email inviting me to do a $10 survey from SurveySavvy last night. I completed it before bed.
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the March winner. Wow ! You could make 2012 your year !
