One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : I had a pretty good day yesterday. I woke up craving pancakes and feeling rather domestic so I whipped up a triple batch of homemade pancakes. I think Kayla ate 4 plates full of them so I didn’t have as many to freeze as I thought I would, but I froze 2 dozen or so. I love making a bunch ahead so that the girls have homemade options for a hot, quick breakfast during the week.
I decided to take the kids out for bowling, but it was SO crowded because of birthday parties. They didn’t have any lanes open, BUT they gave me coupons for 4 free games for the inconvenvience so I reserved a lane for today. We should be able to bowl almost FREE because of the coupons.
I sold 2 things on Craigslist, got my FREE quart of paint from ACE hardware and got a FREE sample from Old El Paso in the mail. I earned 31 Swagbucks. I am almost ready to cash out for a gift card, but not quite there yet. I turned in 10 ink cartridges at Office Max. I also got a few 50% off packs of crayons/markers at Staples using the coupon that I told you all about yesterday.
My hubby and our awesome new neighbor went to the old house in the morning to take care of a few minor things before the inspection. The inspection began at 12:30 and I will fully admit that I was a snoop. I drove by to “check to see if we had any mail” at 1:30. The inspection was still going on and I saw the potential new owners go into the house. We went and ran some errands and I “drove by” again at 3 and the inspector was STILL THERE. Is that a bad sign because 2 1/2 hours seems like a long time to me. I don’t even know how long it actually was because I made myself go home at 3 (as to not be a stalker LOL). How long do these things usually last ? Does that mean he found so many things wrong that he had to spend the whole day?? I’m freaking out here. Can you tell? Anyway, I don’t think we’ll hear anything until Monday so I’ll keep ya posted.
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the March winner. Wow ! You could make 2012 your year !
