One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : Uggghhh, I’m so sick. Actually, it’s just a cold, but I feel like I got ran over by a mack truck. Everything I have to do is such a chore. The girls had bad colds last week. I usually don’t get sick so when they asked me to taste their lollipops, I didn’t want to hurt their little feelings so I took a quick taste. My hubby is sick too so we’re pretty useless. Luckily I have sweet little girls who want to take care of mommy.
Even though I had a serious lack of energy and enthusiasm, I cleaned out my mini van and organized/paid several bills. I organized the kitchen (well, sort of- I could have done a better job, but I did what I could). I even made it to the post office to send off the few bills that I don’t pay online. I also sent a little “get debt free” package to one of my awesome readers (you might want to Lysol the contents upon opening so you don’t get sick he he!).
At around 4, I took the girls to a family party for my niece who made her Confirmation. We ate dinner there. I didn’t have much of an appetite and I secluded myself most of the night as to not get anyone sick. The girls love seeing everyone and I didn’t want them to miss it.
When I came home I did the drugstore deals for you guys and organized a few deals for myself for today should I have the energy to leave the house. It’s not looking too promising at the moment. Please forgive any spelling/grammar errors that you find in my post today as there is not a spellcheck feature and I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed at the moment…
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the March winner. I will announce the February winner on Monday. Wow ! You could make 2012 your year !
