One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : Eewww, it was a yucky day yesterday. I started out by being up coughing most of the night. I’m still trying to get over my cold. Next issue was being stuck in traffic for 60 minutes trying to get to work. It usually takes 15 minutes. It only went downhill from there. I work with kids who have extreme behavioral issues. That’s about all I can say about that, but I can sum it up by saying it was one of the most un-fun days I’ve had in awhile.
I got a “second wind” when I got home and improvised dinner since I seemed to be missing one ingredient for everything I wanted to make. Not surprising with the day I was having huh?? I called my creation – Cheesy Taco Pasta Bake. It was actually really yummy. My hubby had 3 huge plates of it. It may become one of our favorite recipes. Genius comes from necessity right ?? LOL! The girls each ate a bowl of it too. After dinner I made brownies with the twins. I even let them each crack an egg. Olivia’s egg got all over the stove top and she started crying. I said to her “Please don’t cry. You’re actually way too young to be cracking eggs- you did great”. I think I was like 10 before my mom let me crack an egg. What is the standard age for this? The girls are 5, but I’m clueless about the average age??
Uggghh, I still did not make it to Target. I think I need a “deal fairy”. You know- I could leave the coupons in the mailbox and come home to a house FULL of FREEbies. I would SO love that. If I won the Powerball I would hire a “deal fairy”. Oh wait a minute, I guess I wouldn’t NEED to coupon if I won the Powerball. I think I still would coupon and deal shop though because it’s such a rush. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s so fun. Sorry to ramble. I think it’s from a lack of sleep …
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the March winner. Wow ! You could make 2012 your year !
