One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I had a nice Mother’s Day yesterday. I hope you all did too ! My day started out with the girls giving me beautiful letters that they had written to me. They were so heartfelt and of course each letter made me cry, which they loved. I took the girls grocery shopping with me, which of course caused me to spend more than normal. On top of that I let each of them get a Starbucks drink on the way out. Neither of the girls (or myself actually) had ever a Starbucks drink. Their friends all tell them about Starbucks and I wanted to splurge and let them try it to see what all of the fuss is about for themselves. We decided that our new tradition is to try something decadent together on Mother’s Day every year. I think that’s a good plan.
I made dinner, which I know is odd for Mother’s Day, BUT I really wanted homemade meatballs, so I made them and a big mac ‘n cheese casserole. We have some leftovers for today and I didn’t wash even one dish. Ro and the girls handled all of the dishes. I went over with the girls to visit my mom. I had an orchid delivered for her the other day because she loves them. She gave me a huge, gorgeous hanging basket with a variety of colored flowers in it. I came home and hung it right on the porch. It’s beautiful ! I did all of my Bing searches. The girls went outside to play basketball for awhile after dinner. Kayla and Ro also went to the gym. We had a quiet, family day, which was perfect for me ! I hope you all had a great day too !
What have YOU done to ditch debt ? Let’s make 2019 our year!!
