One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I had a good savings day yesterday. I organized some deals at CVS, Rite Aid and one of my grocery stores. I spent $.40 at CVS after coupons, deals and ECB’s. I spent $3.45 at Rite Aid and got back $6 in Plenti Points for next time. I spent $19.55 at the grocery store and got back $2.25 from ibotta. It was a great shopping day. My total was close to $20 and I honestly had a car full of groceries. I was tempted to grab a quick bite to eat while I was out, but I ended up coming home and having a simple lunch at home for free.
I made soft tacos, rice and corn for dinner. It was super hot here yesterday and will be again today. I had to put the air conditioner on for the next few days. I was bold and sent a rather large check to pay down a portion of the roof loan. I had been saving for awhile and it was dwindling, so I just sent it. The only problem is that it won’t leave us with too much $ for the next 2 weeks. We’ll have enough, but I have to be careful. That’s why I was so happy that my deal shopping went well. The mail included a great sample pack from Dove. There was a shampoo, conditioner and a coupon for a FREE full size Dove body wash. I love coupons for FREEbies (especially right now – lol). I did my Bing searches, but didn’t meet my Swagbucks goals.
What have YOU done to ditch debt ? Let’s make 2017 our year !!
