One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : Well, it wasn’t too exciting around here yesterday. I am really trying to rest my ankle so I only went out for a quick dental appointment. I did do a few online deals including the FREE Santa card with FREE shipping and one local daily deal. I also cashed out a few vouchers that had been sitting in my daily deal accounts. I have several gifts on the way that ended up being free. I can now cross a few more people off of my list.
I added 40 points to my MyCokeRewards account and completed 4 surveys. I also started getting my next batch of Ebay and Craigslist items ready. I need to take pictures and list items tomorrow. It was a pretty good mail day. I got 4 samples in the mail, a gift card from one of my survey companies and a $7 rebate check. Woohoo, I love great mail days. The only other thing that I did was to order a few gift cards from Discover rewards. I never let myself order the gift cards unless I have a $0 balance. I will be getting $50 in gift cards for a local restaurant and a $25 gift card for The Childrens Place. They only cost $60 reward dollars (FREE $ because we don’t carry a balance at this point. It’s our own little “get all of the money back that we paid in interest over the years” plan he he!). *Tip- when cashing out for gift cards make sure you pick cards for places that regularly put out coupons. That way your money will go further.
What did you do ? Leave a comment You could be the November winner.
