One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : I had a pretty productive day yesterday. I was excited to do the Libby’s veggie deal at Dollar General. I got 8 cans of veggies for $1.20. I came home and ordered 20 more coupons off of ebay for $6 shipped. I asked the seller if she could mail them out today so hopefully I will get them in time to stock up on more cheap veggies. I’m really feeling the need to stockpile food that I know we will need and my girlies LOVE their veggies.
I spent some time yesterday going through all of my daily deal sites and cashing in some of the vouchers I have stashed away for Christmas gifts. I am super excited to have lots of gifts on the way that only cost me pennies on the dollar. There are some awesome things coming for some good little boys and girls he he! I was also able to print my $10 CVS voucher and my $10 Chili’s vouchers from SaveMore. I also ordered my $25 gift card from Boston Market and my $10 Subway gift cards from SaveMore. There’s more to do, but I got a start on it anyway.
We did lots of packing/moving of small items and clothing. We are trying to make the move as easy as possible. My hubby did have an accident when bringing clothing down our 7 flights of stairs. He slipped on something, bumped his head and put a hole in the wall as he tried to save himself. He’s okay thankfully, but that’s one more thing that needs to be repaired before we move and the list was already long. One thing that we really need to work on is our “handiness” around the house. I/we need to learn how to fix things so that we aren’t always paying other people to fix them for us. It’s a goal we really need to start addressing.
What did you do ? Leave a comment You could be the November winner. Wouldn’t that help out with Christmas gift buying ??
