One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : It rained all day here yesterday. Not just spritzy rain – roof pounding, gutter overflowing, windshield wipers on high rain. I’m not gonna lie though-to me one of the sweetest things in life is listening to and watching the rain and guess what ? It’s FREE ! I could sit and look/listen to it all day. Sorry, a little off topic I guess. I had a few errands to run/limp (the ankle is better, but the knee-not so much and the rain doesn’t help). I went to the bank to deposit a $20 check from a survey company. I put it in savings. Next, I stopped at the gas station to cash in some scratch off lottery tickets that were winners. We won $14 so I cashed them in and got one more $2 ticket. I ended up winning $10 more on that – woo hoo. When I went back in a man was buying $100 worth of scratch offs. I couldn’t believe it. I buy one or two a month, but wow. I really wanted to see if he won anything because he was sitting there scratching them off, but I guess that’s being nosy ~ darn.
My next stop was Old Navy. I had $40 in Old Navy Cash that expired yesterday so I “had “to use it. I combined it with the 75% off doorbuster sale that they had going on. I was able to get 8 long sleeve adult shirts for Christmas presents. I also got the twins a few long sleeve shirts and 2 princess art kits for Christmas + alot of stocking stuffers. In the end I got $190 worth of merchandise for only $42.
The mail was pretty decent yesterday. I finally got my $25Target/$50Restaurant.com gift cards from the Eversave deal I posted about awhile back. I decided to keep at least two of them for the Holiday giveaway if we reach 2,000 Facebook fans. We gained about 50 fans in the last week or so so we’ll see. Keep sharing your favorite posts and we’ll see what happens. I hope we get there because it’s SO fun. Oh, back to the mail… I also got Aveda shampoo and conditioner samples and Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioner samples. Oh, and I got a large jar of “Better than Bullion” soup starter. That should come in handy with the winter weather coming up.
What did you do ? Leave a comment You could be the November winner. Wouldn’t that help out with Christmas gift buying ??
