One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge y ou must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : Another low key day as I am not as mobile as usual due to my still injured ankle and knee. My ankle felt a little better again yesterday, but the knee hurt more. It’s so frustrating. There are so many things I need to be doing right now with the upcoming move and I can’t do much. I rested for most of the day trying to give myself the best chance of healing.
I spoke to the wife of the man who backed into our mini-van on Saturday. I told her the cost of the estimate for repairs. She was so nice. I think she was relieved it was under $400. She said that her husband would be happy with that price. We chatted for a few minutes and she agreed to drop a check in the mail. I can’t get an appointment until Saturday anyway so it should work out great. Thanks for all of your advice about this. I feel good that we got a reasonable estimate and worked it out with the couple. I think we all walked away feeling like we did “right” by one another- as long as the check clears, that is, but I’m sure it will.
I did a few money saving things online (as if I had a choice he he). I earned 32 Swagbucks, entered 70 MyCokeReward codes and completed 4 surveys. I did the ToysRus deal that I posted about. I ended up getting 2 plush Disney blankets for the girls for Christmas and 20 pink hangers for just over $6 shipped. I was really excited about that deal. I also got my hubby a few sweatshirts online. He is almost 7ft. tall so I usually get them online. I used a coupon code, Shop at Home and got free shipping so it wasn’t bad after all of the discounts and cash back.
Oh, and one more thing…You all know how much I love my girlies, but were your kids off the wall energetic/hyper yesterday?? Uummm, too much candy ?? It was crazy around here with all of the hopping, jumping and running around. I may have to hide some of the candy because they may be sneaking some when I’m not looking. My little Olivia is a wee bit devious (in a silly way of course).
What did you do ? Leave a comment You could be the November winner. I promise I will announce the October winner tomorrow morning on the post.
