One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : Not a bad day at all yesterday. I started out by going to a doctor’s appointment. I have to go to the dermatologist once every year for a skin check up since I had melanoma in 2004. I am very fair and had a few severe sunburns back when I was a kid and thought I could get a tan. I had to have the melanoma excised, but didn’t require chemo or anything else (Thank God!). I have since become vigilant about sunscreen and limiting my sun exposure. Anyway, I got great news from the doctor and didn’t have to have any moles removed or tested- YAY! I am trying to get all of the appointments out of the way for the year since I have no choice, but to be out of work.
After leaving the doctor, I stopped by CVS and was able to snag 2 of the Jiff peanut butters. I was psyched about that since the girls LOVE PB&J sandwiches. I had ECBs to use on the peanut butter and got $3 back to use on the next deal. I had a coupon for a FREE lunch so I cashed that in.
I wanted to make a really good meal for dinner since my hubby has been helping out in the cooking dept. since I hurt my ankle/knee. I ended up making chicken fajitas, yellow rice and corn. I actually made the fajitas up in the crock pot, took the kids to the park to watch them ride their bikes while I sat and watched and then came home to finish dinner. Have I told you lately how much I love my crock pot? It is my favorite kitchen appliance. It makes my life so much easier.
The lady from Craigslist came and picked up the tricycles. She gave me the rest of the money for them. I really like Craigslist for selling bigger things that can’t be shipped. I have to put a few more things on there today. We are trying (actually my hubby is trying since I can’t do much at the moment) to take lots of stuff to the new house in preparation for moving. I really don’t want to move anything that we won’t use. I think I may take the plunge into consignment for some of the girl’s clothing. I will let you know how that goes 🙂
What did you do ? Leave a comment You could be the November winner.
