One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : I printed and organized my coupons yesterday. Ugghh, it’s such a chore sometimes, but I feel so much better when I’m a little more organized. My poor coupon binder was so beat up it was almost in pieces. Luckily I was able to find another binder around the house so I didn’t have to buy one.
I used my FREE Discover rewards to buy Children’s Place gift cards. They give you a $25 gift card for $20 worth of rewards dollars, so you get more for your reward dollars. I always try to get the gift cards that give me the best bang for my buck(s). I don’t carry a balance on my Discover card. I pay it off each month. At this point I’ve turned the tables on the credit card company. In the past I’ve paid them more interest than I care to think about. Now, I use them to get FREE gift cards. I am careful to only use the card for things I would have bought anyway, pay it off at the end of the month and rack up lots of free gift cards. I love it!
I added 100 points to My Coke Rewards. I try to save my points for coupons for FREE products or gift cards when they are available. I also was able to recycle 6 ink cartridges at Office Max. This will get me credit at OM. I will probably use my credit to buy ink for coupon printing. It all goes full circle doesn’t it he he!
I took the girls to visit their cousins last night. We ate dinner there and had a great time, as usual. After coming home and tucking my girlies in, I completed a total of 4 surveys. Not a bad day at all and bonus- today is FRIDAY-yeah!
