One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : I was a domestic Goddess yesterday (not really, but it sounds good doesn’t it ?). Actually, I was just in the mood to cook/bake. I made 3 pumpkin pies from scratch complete with homemade whipped cream (you should have seen me wrestling the girls away from it, it was kind of funny to watch-I was outnumbered~sheesh). Have you ever made whipped cream? It’s so easy and it tastes so much better than the canned stuff. I also made Crock Pot Cinnamon Applesauce. I bought some organic apples, cored and chopped them, sprinkled a little cinnamon over them and let them cook on low for about 7 hours. I mashed it all up and put it in the fridge for the night-YUM!
I had a Groupon that expired last night for a local sandwich shop. I was able to use it to get lunch for the whole family. It was just sandwiches and fries, but hey, it was free. For dinner, I made a yummy dinner called Chicken Carbonaro. You get boneless, skinless chicken, beat it with a mallet until it’s about 1/2 inch thick, spread dijon mustart over it, sprinkle it with mozarella cheese, roll it up, roll it in flour and saute it in olive oil until completely cooked. Next you pour spaghetti sauce over it and serve it over rice with a veggie. It’s SO good. Let me know if you try it!
I also did a little drug store shopping and a little grocery store shopping. I did the conair brush deal at Rite Aid, as well as a few other deals that I told you guys about. I only bought what we really needed at the grocery store. I used coupons and a $3 catalina that I got last time so my grand total was only $23.44. I also got another catalina for $1.50 off of my next order. I’m going to see if I can stretch what we have to last the week. I got fruit and milk among other things, so we may be okay. I have some meat left over from last week in the freezer so we’ll see.
What did you do ? Leave a comment You could be the October winner.
