One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I had a pretty good day yesterday. I decided early in the day that I wanted to make homemade pizza for dinner. Not just cheese pizza, but a dish that my mom always made called Bavarian Pizza, which just really means that you add ground beef to it. Our family always used a pizza kit to make it, but I decided that I wanted to make the dough from scratch. I went to the store just to get ingredients for that and for a few other meals for the weekend. I was surprised at how easy it was to make the dough compared to the dough kit we usually use. I think I’ll be making it from scratch from now on. I may post the recipe for you all if you’re interested. Everyone loved the pizza and since I made 2 huge pizzas, we have enough left for lunch today.
We are getting our new washer this morning. I was able to get a few loads out of the old one yesterday. The problem with it is the computer board, so it works intermittently, but we have too much laundry to do around here to wait 12-24 hours between loads. They are mostly computerized these days and aren’t meant to last more than 5-8 years from what I am hearing. After dinner my sister ‘n law and niece came over to hang out and chat. While they were here my parents stopped over and brought us 1/2 of a pumpkin cheesecake that my dad made. There’s only one piece left – yikes it was good. Everyone had a piece. I did all of my Bing searches. It was another beautiful, blustery day…
Let’s make 2019 OUR year !!! We can do it !!
