One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : I’ve gotten so many nice samples/freebies in the mail lately. Today I got the Kleenex Cool Touch tissues. Okay, seriously I know you guys probably got the same sample. Is it just me or were you expecting a cute little box of sample tissues? I don’t know about you, but I got 2 tissues. That is so funny. I guess I was expecting too much with all of the fabulous samples lately, but 2 tissues ? Well, I have twins so I guess one tissue for each-ha ha 🙂
I filled up the foaming soap dispensers throughout the house with my homemade foaming soap. It’s so simple and costs pennies on the dollar (you can search for it in the search bar). I also filled up the girl’s detangler bottle with the frugal version (1/5 of the bottle filled with conditioner and the rest with water, shake and voila!). We ate all meals at home (or packed a lunch). I actually made a double portion of dinner and froze the rest for a night when I don’t feel like cooking. I also started going through coupons and organizing them. I have a few more drugstore deals that I want to do this week and I have to be organized before I go in.
Can I just tell you guys how much I love reading your comments. You inspire me by the steps that you are taking for your families and by cheering each other on. This get debt free stuff is serious business and it really helps to have cheerleaders. I so appreciate all of your comments about the furniture. It gave me a new perspective on it. One reader said that she has an unfinished sitting room and has turned it into her “dance floor” with the kids. I love that. You are an encouragement to me and to one another and I love that.
On a side note, I must admit that when I read everyone’s comments from yesterday you all had me SO hungry. I mean really- homemade bread, pumpkin cookies and smothered enchiladas YUM! One reader even had me craving coffee. I must remember to read them after dinner or when I’m not that hungry. You guys sound like amazing cooks- recipes please 🙂
What did you do ? Leave a comment You could be the October winner.
