One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : We had a busy, fun day yesterday. I spent the morning snuggling with my girlies. They woke up early yesterday morning and came to snuggle with me for awhile. We ate breakfast and lunch at home. I was craving Chicken Noodle soup so I had that. The girls added PB&J to their soup.
After lunch we went to Sweet & Sassy to use the FREE vouchers a friend gave to the girls. They expire on the 25th so yesterday seemed like the best day to go. They got little glittery manicures, “kid” makeup and a princess updo complete with glitter spray and “cupcake spray”. They also got a glitter star on their cheek. They enjoyed it SO much and it was free, but I think there’s 1/2 can of hairspray and 100 bobby pins in each of their hair (ummm, I’ll think about that later on…).
Next, we went to CVS for the FREE Halloween party that I told you guys about. They were supposed to come in costume and believe it or not, we still don’t have costumes so they just wore dress up clothes (they had to step into the dresses so as to not mess up their hair or nails – sheesh!). They got their picture taken and each got a bag of candy (for them), little toys (for them) and coupons (for ME). While at CVS I just snagged the free candy corn and the Mars candy deal. I actually scanned my card and got a $1/1 M&M coupon from the magical coupon machine. I paired it with the sale and with a manufacturer’s coupon. I had a few ECBs to burn so I ended up spending $3.99 and getting $3.99 in ECBs. I’m trying to snag really inexpensive Halloween candy. I guess I should have a bowl of candy set out at the new house~ ya think ?
Finally, we went to my nephew’s 5th birthday party. It was about 45 minutes away and I usually spend $3.30 each way in tolls. I was pretty happy that I went a different way that didn’t have the tolls and we actually got there a smidge quicker. We had a great time at the party and ate dinner there. The kids had fun riding bikes, big wheels, scooters and basically everything else with wheels. My brother is pretty frugal in his own right so he hits up yard sales pretty often.
