One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : Well, well well…It’s about time that my
laziness procrastination paid off for me. I held off on getting the twins their Halloween costumes until last night when I decided to take a stroll through Old Navy. Can you believe they have all of their Halloween costumes on sale for 75% off? When you combine that with the 25% off printable coupon I posted yesterday (scroll down), I ended up getting one heck of a deal. They are also giving out $10 in Old Navy Bucks for every $20 you spend (until Thursday). While the selection was a bit limited, we were in luck since the girls really hadn’t specified what they wanted to be. I ended up getting 2 costumes and 4 t shirts on clearance for a grand total of $20.06. I got $10 in Old Navy bucks back for a net total of $10.06-not bad at all.
We ate dinner at home and packed lunch. My hubby made dinner so that was nice. I had an all natural energy bar in my car so I ate that for breakfast. I got a few samples in the mail including princess gummy vitamins (the pack included 2 and the girls loved them) and more tissues. I got the Daily Deal on Eversave (scroll down) for 2 personalized books. I can’t decide if I want to make them for the girls or to give as gifts for my nephews. I took a quick walk through Walmart as it’s near Old Navy. I managed to snag a few deals only spending $2.43 for 7 items- love it.
The only other bit of excitement was that I got an email from a lady who wants to buy BOTH of the tricycles that I put on Craigslist yesterday. She can’t pick them up unti November 5th, but she said she would mail me a deposit to 1/2 of the total purchase price. As it turns out she has twin girls and would love to have them both. We’ll see if the check makes it here, but it is encouraging.
