One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : Myhubby packed me a lunch today (isn’t he sweet?).
I paid my Discover bill in full. I have $60 in rewards to cash in for gift cards and I always make myself pay the balance before snagging the gift cards.
In the afternoon I ran to Walgreens to use up some Register Rewards that were getting ready to expire. I was able to roll them into new deals and snag a few freebies at the same time. I also ran into the bread outlet store. The bread and rolls were fresh and cost $1 per loaf/bag. I also let each of the twins pick a treat. I rarely spend over $1 for bread. I can’t justify spending up to $3.99 when I could get 4 loaves for that or make my own 🙂
My auctions on Ebay ended at 10pm last night. My items sold for a combined total of $116 + additional money to be paid for shipping charges. I have to take more pictures of things to put on for this week. I know I’m a dork, but I really enjoy watching the totals go up & up & up…
For the past few days I’ve noticed a sickening little sound coming from the front of my van when I stop. I’m thinking that I need brakes (and maybe even rotors). I was talking to my brother last night and he mentioned that he put new rotors and brakes on his SUV yesterday. He graciously offered to put new ones on for me. The cool thing is that he was able to snag new front rotors and ceramic brake pads for his truck on ebay for a fraction of what stores charge and they ship free. I’m hoping that I can save alot of money on them – fingers crossed. We really don’t need a HUGE car bill right now with the move coming up. My car is also due for inspection in November and I don’t want any icky surprises.
