One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress : I had a pretty frugal day. I can’t believe it, but settlement for the new house is at 1:30 today. It’s crazy. It seems like it’s been something we’ve talked about for SO long and now it’s a reality. I feel a little sick to my stomach to be honest. I hope that all will go well and that we can sell our current house without too much trouble when it’s time. It’s going to be a major budget buster having two mortgages for a little while. I have to think we are doing the right thing, but it scares the life out of me-I’m not gonna lie -yikes.
I took the girls to Walmart to pick up their new little bikes. We went to their cousin’s house where they rode and rode and rode and rode… They have such fun with their family. The older cousins are so sweet with them. They were ouside with them showing them how to ride and then they brought them inside and painted their nails. My little girly girls.
The only money that I spent yesterday was on Restaurant.com gift certificates. I got $120 worth of gift certificates to two different local restaurants for $5 (I will get $2.50 cash back too). I’m really happy with that. We like the two restaurants that I chose and since we really like to eat out on the weekend it works out well. I am hoping to get to Shoprite again today to do the cookie deal 2 more times. I would like to stash away cookies so that I can give them out for Halloween. I also have some coupons that expire today so I have to use them. It’s going to be a crazy day though with the settlement so we’ll see. One is for a FREE full size bottle of Pantene so I can’t let that go to waste – settlement or no settlement he he.
