One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $111,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well ![]()
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt. I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I had a pretty good day yesterday. I had lunch with my parents. It was the first time the girls didn’t join us for lunch, so of course we talked about them. The mail included a rebate check for $2.50. I shall try not to spend that all in one place, lol. The girls had a great first day of school. They were gushing all night about how much they love their new teacher. They typically love school, so I’m glad they had a good first day.
The best financial thing I did yesterday was to sell our swing set. I had it listed on the Facebook yard sale site for the past few weeks and a lady came yesterday to check it out and pay for it. It will be taken down tomorrow and brought to her house for her. I’ll be sad to see it go, but the girls are 12 now and TALL, so they’ve outgrown it. I got excited for a minute planning the ten different things I’d love to do with the money, but we had a siding repair last month and the bill just came. Of course it was just about the same amount of money that we got for the swing set. At least it will be taken care of and it’s not raining in our house anymore. The siding issue had caused a leak in our living room, so I’m thankful to not have to stress during heavy rains. I did all of my Bing searches.
Let’s make 2019 OUR year !!! We can do it !!
