One of the biggest reasons for creating MommyLuvs2save was to create a community of moms and dads who want to help their family save money when buying essentials in order to free up money for debt repayment. My own family has paid off over $205,500 in consumer debt including credit cards, student loan debt and 2 vehicles. I am a teacher at heart. I want to use the skills that I have learned to help YOU ditch debt. I want to encourage each of you in your efforts so that one day you can feel the freedom of being debt free. I’m not quite there yet either (we still have a mortgage) so I need encouragement as well !
It can be very difficult to pay down debt. There are many temptations to spend money. We live in a culture that encourages debt and spending. In addition, expenses come up and there never seems to be any extra money for paying down debt.
I want to urge each of you to participate in a challenge. Just leave a comment about one positive step you’ve taken for your family each day. Did you eat in instead of going out? Did you save money at the grocery store? Did you pay extra on your credit card? Leave a comment below and we will cheer one another on every day and every step of the way.
The challenge is to leave a comment about what YOU have done to work on getting debt free each day. One winner will be chosen to win a $50 Amazon gift card at the end of each month. To participate in the challenge you must comment on at least 10 posts during the month.
* I will also be sharing my progress from the day prior.
My Progress: I spent $46 today at the grocery store getting meat for our cookout and fruit for a big fruit salad. Other than that, no money was spent. I did spend some time in the morning picking veggies and cutting up peppers for packs that went in the freezer for future use. I’m going to try something different for this week. I’m going to make up 5 bags worth of crockpot meals, so that I can grab a bag and stick it in the crockpot each morning. That way I’ll come home to a homecooked meal each day without having to cook. I chose 5 easy meals to test this out on for this week. I’ll let you know how it goes.
The rest of the day was spent cleaning up and spending time with family. We had a great time and they didn’t leave until 11:30pm. Poor little Kayla fell asleep on the couch while she was sitting with her cousins watching “Underdog”. A fun time was had by all. I did manage to get all of the drugstore deals up for you guys. I also wrote out my lists for the drugstores. There are a few deals I want to snag this week. Hopefully, I can do at least a few deals today.
What did you do ? I hope you had a blessed day. Leave a comment You could be the August winner. I will announce the July winner on Monday. You could make 2012 your year !

Luv your site!!! Yesterday earned 6th Amazon gift card through Swagbucks… bought 10 packages chicken breast -B2G3 FREE!!! Spent all morning prepping then freezing so today will b pool time w kids!
I’m interested in hearing about the crock pot meals. When I do go off the deep end on eating out, it tends to be because I come home exhausted and there is no meal ready or easy to fix…and I hardly ever use my crockpot.
Another no spend day and a no earn day, too.

Went to walgreens, they were already out so I got a raincheck. I have not seen any free notebook deals yet this year, maybe I missed them. I might go to CVS. Really need a better, more efficient system of going shopping. I used to love Underdog. Sounds like you are enjoying your garden. The rains came again this afternoon, sitting outside writing a paper in the mist.

That was weird, I sent a comment and it bounced back as already sent. Went to Walgreens and got a raincheck for the pens. Sat near the river for a while today, just for a change of pace. Need to organize my coupons better, maybe writing the intended store would help. Glad you are enjoying your garden.

We spent the day on the lake with some friends so it made for a no spend day. We had dinner at their house after boating. I earned 29 swagbucks.
I worked all day. I’m very thankful to have a job that I love. I did manage to get a rebate form filled out and ready to send. Always nice when those come back. Not much time to earn many swagbucks, but some days are just like that. For those doing swagbucks, please consider their August charity for Smile Train. It cost so little to make such a huge impact in the life of a child. Thanks to volunteers, the average cost is less than $250 per surgery. Smile Train will receive $0.01 for every swagbuck donated. My heart goes out to these children. Everyone deserves a smile!

We had leftovers for dinner for our last night away. It was great- everyone had something they loved and I felt great that we got one more meal out of what we’d packed. I threw very little away. Yay!
